Google + Yahoo = ?
The business equation to end all business equations. Rumours are being heard and the government’s lending its ear towards them. After Google announced its joint venture with Yahoo to ‘aid’ their search algorithm for two weeks, it seems that people have already started wondering if Google might just try and merge with Yahoo.
If Yahoo and Google join together what would we get? Well Google owns an estimated 66% of the Search market (which is over 2 times the economists definition of a monopoly) and Yahoo holds around 20% of the search market, put two and two together and you get such a market dominance its no wonder people are fearing the team up.
Google has already been under investigation for its anti competitiveness and privacy violations. It might not be too long until we see the competition commission putting its foot in the door with legislation backing its force.
